News from around the home

Nursery update
Young talented International Secondary School students from Laucala Beach Suva designed and painted the nursery walls. The blackboard painted walls are helping the children with their writing and spelling skills. The nursery is busy with 12 children aged from 1 to 5 years.
Classroom update
During the school holidays Teacher Vanie has supervised a daily routine for all the children and senior girls to work on their homework. This maintains and fosters an ongoing learning environment for the children and senior girls.
Two girls in year 8 will be sitting for Fiji Eight Year Examination (FEYE) in September.
Two girls in year 10 will be sitting for Fiji Junior Certificate Examination (FJCE) in October. We wish all our girls good luck.
Gardens and maintenance
We are very thankful for the hard work of the Navuso Agriculture students who have given their time and skills to clear and plant Dalo. Other vegetable crops have been donated and planted by Koronivia Research Station staff. This is a new project for the home and we look forward to reporting on the crops.
A number of generous volunteers have also visited the home recently and graciously given of their time and resources. These volunteers have provided the home with:
  •  A beautifully constructed and painted safety fence around the entry playground area. This playground area has also been repainted. The entry to the home looks great.
  •  Beautiful repainting of the home's prayer room
  •  The home's gardens have also been enhanced by the construction of two above ground vegetable planter boxes located close to the kitchen for fresh kitchen herbs.
Thanks to all the volunteers for their ongoing generosity to our home.
Dilkusha Old Girls Reunion 2019
Exciting plans are already being made for the 2019 old girls reunion to be held in conjunction with 2019 Dilkusha Week. The reunion will be held on Friday 20th September 2019 (Saturday and Sunday plans still to be worked out). For further updates visit the facebook group "Dilkusha girls reunion Australia".

We thank all the volunteers, donors, Methodist Church of Fiji and abroad and The Department of Social Welfare Fiji for all their ongoing assistance.
We are blessed to have your ongoing assistance and support.
